Join UPMC Shadyside's Thoracic Surgery Unit!

Sign-On Bonus: $15,000 for experienced nurses with more than one year of experience
Registered Nurse: Full-Time position available, must have 1 year of RN experience
Unit: Thoracic Surgery Unit
About UPMC Shadyside: A Magnet-designated teaching hospital with ongoing research and education

Thoracic ICU:

Team: Highly specialized and supportive nurses
Procedures: Post Op Thoracic procedures, VATs (Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery), Esophagectomies, Lung resections, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps, Lumbar drains, Swan-Ganz catheters, CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy), Vasoactive drips
Additional Responsibilities: Receiving overflow from other ICUs during high census
Work Environment: Fast-paced unit
Required Skills: Excellent critical thinking and adaptability

1 year of RN experience required
BSN preferred.
Demonstrate the knowledge and skills needed to provide care and interact with all ages of patients.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

ACLS within 12 months of hire

Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

CPR required based on AHA standards that include both didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.

Registered Nurse (RN)

Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state.
Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
